Abstract :
Location of the license plate region is the most important step in the license plate recognition system. We propose a plate location algorithm based on histogram equalization. In this method, the traditional algorithm is improved by using histogram equalization to enlarge the intensity difference among objects and background. In our experiments, different light condition license plate images are tested. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can enhance the images contrast effectively and accurate capture license plate region in local strong light exposure image.
