Abstract
The plant model is an important part of virtual nature scenes. Compared with the other model, the plant model is irregular in shape, so it is hard to build. This paper presents two modeling methods of virtual plant based on L-system. One method uses multi-productions to model grass, the other method use stochastic and parametric L-systems to model tree. The axiom and productions are presented in detail. With appropriate choice of productions or parameters, these methods can represent many different kinds of plants. By assigning stochastic multiples of parameters, this stochastic parameters model can exhibit the overall statistical character and the local stochastic character of the natural tree. Some examples of virtual plant or tree generated by our methods are given. The results show that proposed method is feasible and effective.
