Abstract :
Dedicated service gateways provide Network services which direct traffic flows. Currently many researchers focus on gateway selection on the Shortest Route, Closest Gateway and not much on the congestion and network traffic in this route. In this paper, we have proposed a novel approach called Optimal Closest Gateway Mechanism with load balancing technique for traffic engineering. Instead of only concentrating on the shortest route with high network traffic and closest gateway with congestion, this work selects the gateway that is closest to the source of flow eliminating the gateway which has the highest network traffic. This method is followed till the destination node is reached. This work evaluates the performance of the proposed technique with various Selection algorithms and their results are compared. From the comparison, it is noted that the proposed optimal closest gateway outperforms the existing selection algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed approach effectively identifies the set of gateways at optimal locations for routing, which in turn reduce the network congestion and hence packet drop rate.
