The calibration of linear motion guide is not only the academic direction for mechanical machining, but also the important means for error compensation of multi-freedom motion system. The calibration of linear motion guide is important part for kinematic research of motion system and main portion for the enhancement of motion system precision. This paper addresses the direct calibration method and the indirect calibration method in the calibration of linear motion guide. Especially the artifacts method, optics method and displacement lines method, which include their principle, characteristic and present situation, are expounded at length. And the artifacts method is the important way which may be used in short journey fields. While the displacement lines method is not only applied to long journey fields, but also is an economical calibration method.
