Abstract :
Online dictionary systems lack the ability of providing video presentations for the query. To address this issue, a “movie dictionary” model is proposed. It utilizes a movie bank and subtitle database to provide movie clips for the queried phrase. A prototype of this model is implemented as a web application with a small-sized movie bank. As a limited prototype, its performance is not satisfactory, but its functionality and usefulness for language learning is validated.
