Based on the model proposed by Yusuf Chisti-Murray Moo Young, effects of aeration rate and MBR structure on cross-flow velocity along membrane surface were investigated for optimization design of MBR. When the aeration rate and cross-sectional area were 200m3/h and 3.9m2 respectively, a cross-flow velocity of 1.25m/s was achieved in the MBR. Due to this higher cross-flow velocity, Transmembrane Pressure (TMP) of MBR was less than 0.03MPa throughout the one-year operation time, which mitigated membrane fouling and contributed to the system stability.
