Abstract :
With the growth of the semantic Web, it is necessary to provide huge amounts of data in a form and language that may be machine processable. However, large amounts of data in legacy systems are stored in relational databases. This paper proposes an approach of translating relational databases in form of the resource description framework, which is a machine processable language used to describe various web resources. This approach mainly consists of schema translation and instances translation. Furthermore, instances translation is dynamically translated from relational databases according to rules on user´s demand. This approach not only saves efforts in developing the semantic web but also makes an amount of data in relational databases machine processable for the semantic web. This approach has been proven to be feasible and efficient by practice.
