Abstract
The traditional way to allocate the frequencies to new cells of in-service GSM network is always manually. The shortcoming is time-consuming, and the veracity is not satisfied. This paper presents an innovative algorithm of fully automatic frequency planning for the new cells. The proposal uses the triangulation principle to stratify the cell sites in GIS map to confirm the list of neighbor cells, and then analyses the frequency interference due to the antenna azimuth angles and information of cell sites to allocate best frequency with the minimum interference to the new cells. This method needn´t modify the frequencies used by the existing cells. It has been verified in a real GSM network and achieved high accurateness.
