Adsorption-desorption behavior of copper in Sichuan mine soils was studied using the batch method. The measured copper adsorption data was described by the Langmuir equation and the Freundlich equation respectively. The results indicated that the Freundlich equation was less suitable than the Langmuir equation to describe the adsorption data. In contrast to copper adsorption, the amount as well as the rate of the absorbed copper desorption was low when the balanced solution had low copper content, and the amount as well as the rate of the absorbed copper desorption increased simultaneously when the content of the adsorbed copper increased in soils.
