The paper employs the model of growth drag of resources during urbanization process with the neo-classic growth theory and relationship function between urbanization and economic growth, and takes Jiangxi province as an empirical case. The results show that the drags of water and land during urbanization process in Jiangxi province respectively are 0.006836528 and 0.129913984, and total drag reaches 0.192582493. After further calculated, if we want to reach the target of urbanization rate of 2010 to 45%, as the existence of growth drag, the annual growth rate of urbanization must be above 1.76. Obviously, this annual growth rate of urbanization in Jiangxi is difficult to reach. Therefore, ensuring the sustainable development of urbanization in Jiangxi province, not only is it necessary for us to improve the production way instead by depending on technology advancement, but also to raise the awareness of saving and protecting resources in public.
