Abstract :
The non-destructive testing (NDT) of carbon electrode is an important problem in carbon industry. This paper presents a wavelet-based non-destructive coin-tap method combining with experience of human testing experts, in which mechanical shocks were acted on carbon electrodes to be tested, and wavelet transform was used to analyze response acoustic signals caused by knocking. The wavelet characteristic parameter of response signals extracted could be imported into classifier. The substandard electrodes could be effectively screened out according to their individual different wavelet characteristic channel. The method mentioned above was used in the practical testing experiments on a batch of carbon electrode and the results confirmed the feasibility and validity of the method proposed in this dissertation.
