Abstract :
The performance of a 10G-EPON prototype system with an amplification stage introducing 8-dB gain on the BER curves is experimentally assessed. The results show an improvement in the performance which allows for a 2-fold increase in the splitting ratio of the system, enabling adding twice as much ONUs, and hence increasing the bandwidth exploitation of the optical platform.
