Abstract :
Joint cell selection and scheduling schemes can play an important role in maximizing the cellular network capacity because of two main reasons: (i) the service rate of a given user depends on the selected cell, and (ii) the inter-cell interference introduces dependencies between the total service rates in the cells. In this paper we study different combinations of cell selection schemes like maximum SINR and maximum rate with different kinds of alpha-fair schedulers. Additionally the impact of mobility is also studied for different user distributions and interference conditions. Our study shows that mobility tends to increase the cellular network capacity. We also show that different combinations of cell selection schemes and alpha-fair schedulers are optimal for various user distributions and mobility.
