Abstract
Hospital waste is a serious public health problem in many of our countries considering the consequences following its bad management. St. Joseph´s Hospital in Kinshasa has basic knowledge regarding what is hospital waste. However there is a need to set up a clear protocol for the identification, classification, and collection of waste and the way each of type of waste has to be treated. A suitable incinerator has to be found. The small size industrial incinerator does a good job but is expensive in terms of the small amount of the waste destroyed, the fuel consumption, and dependency on electricity, etc. The simple local made furnace needs some improvement to make it effective and efficient.
