Abstract :
This paper presents a novel configuration for a robotic waveguide that duplicates an active optical line without disrupting communication services. The robotic waveguide is placed in a detour line, which is coupled with the active line. This duplication enables part of the active line to be replaced with a new line segment. The proposed robotic waveguide is compact and low loss, and it operates quickly. These features make it suitable for future applications such as multi-fiber tape replacement without service interruption.
