Abstract :
This study describes the development of a car orientation measurement system using a single camera. We have proposed the method that calculate a car´s 3D distance and direction from 4 corner points of its license plate image. However, to obtain a car orientation by this method, we have to detect and track the license plate shape with high accuracy. Therefore, in this report, we considered to track the license plate outline using particle filter. The effectiveness of our approach has been verified through experiments using real car images.
