            Abstract : 
This paper describes a practical identifying method for the inertia and Coulomb´s friction of a mechanical system by using steepest descent method in which the model in the inverse transfer-function quickly approaches to the true machine parameters. From the results of the simulation, it is shown that low-pass filtered M-sequence is very effective input signal for the proposed method from practical point of view.
