Abstract :
In this paper, we develop an embedded system for ships. The embedded system is to gather the information on the level of cargo oil tank, ballast tank and the operation status from other measurement devices in the ship and other its tasks are to transfer the information to the main computer, and to put control parameters into measurement devices. We designed the hardware based on PXA320 processor that would be an arbiter between Loading computer and other measurement devices of the overall system. For these purpose, we take the software based on Windows CE for our embedded board. For the display and control input, we use TFT-LCD and touch screen device and for communication, we use a 10/100BASE-T Ethernet device and RS-232 device on the processor chip. In addition, considering the huge size of ship, we equip 8 ports of RS-485 that enable to handle various signals from a number of input/output devices and are robust to noise even with a long communication line.
