Abstract :
Currently there are two different standards for device integration in use: FDT (Field Device Tool) and EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language). Both have proven themselves in different applications and have their according eligibility. However, this co-existence causes additional efforts for both suppliers and users. The authors explain the concept of combining FDT and EDDL in one solution: the integration of EDDL into FDT based systems through an interpreter DTM.
