Abstract :
This contribution deals with the different interpretation of the definition and differences between often used terms: practically disposable dynamic range (DR) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of CCD image sensors. The paper presents an empirical formula for expressing the maximal value of a practically disposable dynamic range of silicon CCD sensors. This formula was created by the approximating of average measurements results on various types of these sensors.
