Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel distributed metadata management scheme to efficiently handle different metadata workloads in Cloud Computing. It can deliver high performance and scalable metadata service through following techniques: the metadata distribution method based parent directory path ID, mimic hierarchical directory structure, improved Chord, cooperative double layer cache mechanism, intimacy algorithm, and the application of database to metadata backend. Our metadata management strategy is flexible by adopting an improved Chord and an intimacy algorithm. Using a prototype system, we firstly demonstrate the performance superiority of our strategy compared to other two strategies, and then present the change relation between the performance of metadata access and intimacy value.
