Abstract :
In this paper we present an algorithm that utilizes multiple interfaces to provide maximum connectivity and try to find the path to the destination utilizing different interfaces (802.3, 802.11, GSM, Dial up modem and serial). A novel algorithm utilizes on demand distance vector routing, finds route when needed and switches to the best interface using a METRIC that is computed using the delay of line, MTU, bandwidth, availability, feasibility, and cost. Each node maintains information regarding all the possible direct interfaces to its neighbors. It provides loop free routes and has the capability to repair broken links by switching to different interface. Decision regarding selecting the best interface for communication is taken at every node in the route. We created simulation of our proposed algorithm to verify its working and scale our algorithm to larger coverage area for better evaluation of the proposed methodology.
