Abstract :
Study on control methods of cutter location and their theoretical errors for unequal NC machining cylindrical cam with translating roller follower based on double envelope principle. Firstly, the equation of practical profile and equation of profile machined by tool were derived, and their theoretical errors were calculated with mathematical software Matlab. Secondly, cylindrical cam specimen was machined by the control method of cutter location based on double envelope principle, and the profile data was measured by CMM. Finally, the theoretical errors and measuring errors of profile machined by tool were analyzed; the relationship between the errors and Δr (radius difference between follower and cutter) as well as errors and follower axial position were also analyzed. Error analysis results show that error calculation results and measurement results changed in the same way, the radius difference between follower and cutter exerts significant impact on machining error of cylindrical cam profile.
