Abstract
This paper describes a new planar magic-T designed on the basis of isolation between a TE10- and TE10-mode sharing a symmetric plane. The circuit structure is composed of a compact H-plane waveguide TE10-TE20 mode transducer connected to the back of an H-plane waveguide T-junction. A good hybrid property comparable with a conventional magic-T is realized by optimizing the radius and position of metallic posts with full height placed in the junction region and the contour of the circuit structure. The present magic-T is marked by compactness and easy-fabrication in addition to the planar structure. The validity of the design procedure is confirmed by experiments.
