Abstract :
This paper describes the way from a cost intensive status of development of RF electronics to modern cost effective concepts. Military RF electronics as e.g. receivers, transmitters or complete radar frontends historically have been realized using expensive technologies to reach outstanding RF performances and reliability. Many advances in technologies, but also tradeoffs are a way to overcome expensive solutions.
