  • Abstract
    We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel receiver architecture based on injection locking for demodulating a DPSK/ASK orthogonally modulated signal. The receiver exploits the limiting amplification of an injection locked laser to discriminate the two data streams, enhance the performance of DPSK, and increase the ASK extinction ratio up to 8 dB, making this modulation format suitable for the cost-efficient capacity upgrade of metro networks.
