Abstract :
This publication describes the design of dual-orthogonal, linearly polarized UWB Antenna. The concept of the antenna with the feeding is described and the prototype is introduced. The antennna possesses the ability to radiate in two linear, orthogonally oriented polarizations. The radiation characteristics is dipole-like for each polarization in a frequency range from 3 GHz to 9 GHz. Each polarization is radiated omnidirectionally in the H-Plane. Due to the orthogonality of the polarization an illumination of a large spherical angle is possible. A good agreement between the simulated and measured characteristics is observed. The time domain analysis of antenna´s radiation properties confirms the applicability of the device in pulse based UWB systems. The antenna, due to its radiation characteristics, can be optimized for each wireless system, where a polarization diversity and an illumination of wide area over wide bandwidth is desired, e.g. MIMO-UWB-PDAs, channel measurements.
