Abstract :
In this report we describe the results of conceptual development of a novel type of uncooled matrix receivers based on matrix structures of optoacoustic detectors (Golay cells). Due to relative simplicity of matrix implementation and separated systems for radiation detection and optoelectronic readout, the receiver is flexible to the choice of the operating wavelength exhibiting high potential applications both in infrared, terahertz and millimetre-wave imaging systems. The matrix receiver based on 200×200 Golay cells and 30 ms response time was successfully fabricated and tested in the long-wavelength infrared region (λ=8-14 μm). Further adaptation of the developed type of receiver to terahertz frequencies, including elaboration of high-performance metamaterial-based absorbing layers, is considered.
