Abstract :
A novel technology implementation for an E-Band Microwave Transceiver using Microstrip and Waveguide SMT Package (MWgSP -) is presented - This technology and relevant radio architecture addresses the problems peculiar to those extremely high frequencies and allow high level Radio integration, reducing in the meantime both material and manufacturing cost. Namely it is possible to concentrate the highest frequency circuits such as Low Noise Down-converter and Transmission Up-converter, in SMD module-packages to be separately tested and then assembled on a Motherboard (supporting the other radio functions) using standard SMT assembly lines. Technology details, including related design rules and advantages are illustrated with experimental implementations.
