            Abstract : 
This work presents a region segmentation approach based on the use of two complementary illumination-invariant region features, originally combined via the base operation of the Mean-Shift algorithm. This achieves image segmentation into homogeneous reflectance and shadow-invariant regions. This region-based segmentation refines a required pixel-based segmentation mask produced by a background subtraction technique.
