  • Abstract
Most universities today have large and complex structure and activities (Multiversity) and, exist in them, huge amount of data resources. But until now, there is no mature method to collect and process these data to meet the need of information system application. Some systems used in separate sectors can not provide effective information for management decision and meet the needs of public inquiries. Based on university data description, this paper analyses these data and discusses the data collection and data processing methods. First, the higher education data is divided into two types: business process-based data and status expression-based data. Then, the paper discusses the difference between the two types and proposes some basic rules for data collection and preprocessing. It is anticipated that the results of this paper will help the successful application of information systems in universities.
