With guyed Tower (type:LM21) of 500kV transmission lines, the joint bar of tower body and stayguy had been deformed severely in the process of operation. We did the buckling analysis in different load condition with application of finite element method. The results revealed that the nether cross arm yielded under load of cladding ice and imbalance tension. Then we do experiment with prototype tower and acquire corresponding datum. By comtrasting the theory results and experimental datum, we can make sure that this method of analysing tower is exact and proper. Finally, we setted out improvemental means that to change material specification of the nether cross arm from 80mm × 80mm × 6mm to 120mm × 100mm × 14mm. By this insteading, the intensity and deformation of tower have met designing requirements.
