Abstract
As the development of the Internet and the increment of the bandwidth, large-scale video transmission on the IP network is getting further development and application. Especially, the application of the broadcasting system based on single sender but multiple receivers are applied widely. Therefore, the multimedia data transmission is becoming one of the most important aspects in the broadcasting system. As the amount of the video data is large, the high performance both in compression and delivery are needed. However, as the serious inconsistencies, such as the kinds of configure inconsistency, the distribution of the geography locations inconsistency, the connection of the bandwidth inconsistency are all existing, the same sender may need some different receivers to get a acceptable performance. In this paper, a hierarchical architecture of video coding and transmission is proposed and implemented based on layer concept. The results of the experiment show that the hierarchical architecture proposed can satisfy the various applications.
