Abstract
Mutual coupling in planar structures can have serious impact on, for example, radiation properties of an array of patch antennas or transmission characteristics of closely placed microstrip lines. In this paper three common structures used for mutual coupling reduction are presented together with analysis techniques that use simple or ideal models of the considered structures. The results show the benefits of using this approach for coupling reduction and demonstrate how in a efficient but rigorous way these structures can be modelled.
