Abstract :
These notes are addressed to people who work at comparatively small (research or university) scientific teams. They are often met with a necessity to choose the direction and style of their investigations. Members of large scientific collectives, aimed to solve a certain applied problem, do not face this necessity. They have less degree of freedom (but bigger salary). The author doesn´t know any universal criteria for above choice, and, probably they do not exist at all. Here an attempt is made to classify several situations in which such a choice should be made, and some arguments are given in behalf of different decisions. There are four typical situations, when the decision must be made, in which direction work should be continued and/or in which way it should be organized. Below the arguments are given in behalf of two possible decisions. In all these cases, the objectives “B” are preferable for the author. He understands that their advantages against the objectives “A” are improvable. Of course, the examples given below have only demonstrative (but not convincing) meaning.
