Abstract
This paper proposes a new method for accurate determination of AC/DC converter current characteristics. Time domain equations of the converter are written based on a comprehensive model. Different conditions of system and converter parameters are considered in this model. The mentioned equations are arranged to achieve a simple algorithm, and they are solved with a numerical method to obtain voltages and currents characteristics. Analytical waveforms out come using this method and simulations results are accurately compatible. Experimental results in different conditions confirm the proposed equations. This analysis is critical to study harmonic characteristics of converter in order to detect harmonics caused by resonances in systems with a low short-circuit level, and converter modelling in harmonic load flow studies.
