Abstract :
CT (Computed Tomography) can provide doctors not only the accurate information regarding the anatomy, but also the capability of functional analysis. This paper proposed a CT GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) calculation method based on three-compartment model and the Patlak plot technique. Considering the complexity of the model system, the optimization method was employed to solve the system. The method was evaluated in 15 patients (8 males and 7 females, age range 22 to 74, and the weight range 37.5 to 90kg) without acute renal disorder. The CT scan protocol consisted of an un-enhanced examination followed by two contrast enhanced examinations in the arterial phase and the parenchymal phase. Between the non-contrast scan and the arterial scan, 7 dynamic scans were obtained to get more data about arterial input function. For each patient performed above study, the Cystatin C determined in blood specimens was employed as a reference. The correlation between three-compartment model and cystatin C method in 15 patients was 0.8797 (P<;;0.001), while the correlation between two-compartment model and cystatin C was 0.7691(P<;;0.001).
