            Abstract :
In order to understand the MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression of sclera and scleral fibroblasts after posterior sclera reinforcement, three-week-old rabbits were monocularly performed by eyelid suturation randomly to prepare experimental myopia eye. After 60 days, the experimental myopia eyes were treated by posterior scleral reinforcement. After 6 months the posterior pole sclera tissue and scleral fibroblasts were obtained for detection by immunohistochemistry and ELISA method. The results show that the MMP-2 expressions of sclera tissue and scleral fibroblasts were decreased after PSR, and the scleral fibroblasts of transition tissue had less MMP-2 expression than sclera, there was no change of TIMP-2 expressions on cellular and tissue level. It was indicated that the balance of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression play an important role in the process of treating high myopia with PSR surgery.
