  • Abstract
This research work aimed at developing techniques for the investigation of two-phase flow patterns using high-speed image acquisition. Experiments were conducted using in-line tube bundles with a pitch-to-diameter ratio of 1.3 and 1.8. Information recorded with a high-speed video camera, was analysed using software. Bubbly flow, intermittent flow and spray flow were identified by flow visualization, and a flow map was constructed as a function of superficial gas and liquid velocities. Comparison with previous studies revealed good agreement at low superficial gas and liquid velocities.
