Abstract :
In this paper, we describe a new expression for the result of bidimensional empirical mode decomposition (EMD). This expression is based on the definition of the mean envelope operation. Linear relationship between the intrinsic mode function (IMF) series and the local mean surfaces is shown in this mean envelope expression. Two particular applications are introduced generally according to this expression. Experiments about these two applications indicate the practical value of this mean envelope expression.
