Abstract :
With the popularity of WebGIS, an increasing number of information is annotated and presented on maps. Therefore, it is a challenge to layout large amount of text on a complex map. This paper proposes a rasterization-based map area feature labeling algorithm, which employs matrix to store rasterized map grids, and then a parallel computing algorithm is used to process the grids efficiently. As a result, the system response time could be improved. The algorithm is applied in map browsing service based on session model.
