Abstract :
This paper presents development of an adaptive rule-based fault identification and phase selection technique for maintaining continued operation of distributed generators (DGs) during single-line-to-ground (SLG) fault condition. The emphasis in this paper will be placed on digital data processing and testing of the proposed rule-based fault identification and phase selection technique. The whole process involves fault simulations, development of fault analyse software, development of rule-based fault identification and phase selection technique, and finally verification of each and every fault type using developed rules. Intensive simulation test has been carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software to generate sufficient fault data under different system operating and fault conditions. A total of 2592 cases have been simulated. Several software programmes based on FORTON and C languages have been developed to handle data processing, analysing and testing in order to effectively manage the large volume of collected data and extract the useful information required for the construction of rule-based fault identification algorithm.
