Abstract :
A method is proposed to determine the proximity of Hopf bifurcation occurrence in electric power systems, by monitoring a stochastic system parameter (wind speed). Also, the oscillatory instability problem of the electric power systems, is formulated as an optimization problem. A non-linear method of optimization called Nelder-Mead Simplex gets reviewed and is used to solve the formulated problem. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical example.
