Abstract :
Small wind turbines have become popular again in countries like India and China where one turbine can support a household. At locations with heavy or turbulent wind conditions high stress on the blades and gearbox are the result. The stress causes over dimension of the mechanical parts. This paper describes a stand alone wind turbine where a concept with flexibly and pitchebly blades are used. Measurements showing the functionality of the wind turbine with a preliminary control are shown and discussed. This paper focuses then on describing the electrical control system according to the measurements where the focus is on different production states and the switching conditions between the states.
