  • Abstract
    Aimed at meeting a strong demand for knowledge need in works done by hand and solving a common problem that it is often perplexing to find necessary information from enormous knowledge sources in knowledge management systems for labor-intensive manufacturing enterprises, an innovative method of business process-oriented and demand-driven knowledge push system based on collaboration was proposed for integrating knowledge with business process and business operators. The system greatly facilitates information search process in enormous knowledge sources. Firstly, based on analysis of characteristics of manufacturing-oriented knowledge, a definition of knowledge requirements in business process was proposed, and an approach of meta-knowledge description and a hierarchy structure of knowledge push system based on collaboration were studied. Secondly, a mechanism of collaboration-based knowledge push by dual drives from a workflow engine and a knowledge engine was proposed. Finally, a case study for a business process in a clothing manufacturing enterprise was conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and availability of constructing the knowledge push system based on collaboration in reality. This paper presents a beneficial approach for the effective integration of business process and knowledge management technologies.
