Abstract
This paper provides a critical and comprehensive review of research on process innovation of manufacturing enterprises under information technology condition. Published articles are divided into four fields each with one different theoretical viewpoint: (a) dynamic sources; (b) realization mode; (c) organizational change; and (d) innovation capability. Therefore, this paper argues that when firms introduce information technology, business process innovation will be changed in the above four fields to match with information systems or information devices. Finally, it concludes by outlining important challenges and issues in the paper to encourage the development of future research.
