            Abstract :
Conventional measuring methods cannot accurately detect the depth and the horizontal distance of the lakes, especially when a fixed-point sampling is needed on the surface of the lake, because it is restricted by the natural conditions, capital and human resource. This paper presents a new methodology for measuring the isobath and the horizontal surface distance of a lake. And the mapping process of 8m isobath Yangzonghai Lake near Quan-Yong Point by using this new and simple measuring method was introduced. This new measuring method could be useful for non-professionals to map the isobath lines and to measure the horizontal surface distance of lakes.
