Abstract
Environmental issues affect numerous logistical decisions throughout the supply chain. The paper holds that low carbon economy summons the low carbon logistics. With the rapid development of railway construction and railway technology, China recently has stridden into “new railway period”, which provides one valuable opportunity to develop low carbon logistics. China should take railway as the domestic main transportation artery in low carbon logistics. Based on the railway artery, we need confirm the `carbon responsibility´ of logistics so as to foster a good `carbon image´ of logistics, then formulate and implement the policy of logistics of reducing `carbon footprint´ effectively.
