Abstract :
In order to solve the culvert structure large size, high cost and long construction time and culverts cracking problem and so on by the high filling culvert excessive earth pressure caused,a new load reduction test in site using different thicknesses and widths of EPS on the top and lateral slab culvert is done,The test results shows that: EPS slab can reduce vertical and lateral soil pressure acted on culvert obviously, the thicker the EPS board, the greater the deformation of EPS board, but the strain is smaller, earth pressure decreased considerably,load-reducing significantly on the top and lateral slab culvert, and axial direction on the top of culvert vertical soil pressure is more evenly;According to this trial and previous trials, through the culvert fill soil height with density and thickness of the EPS boards correlation has been established EPS board thickness and density of the formula, and verify the feasibility of the formula, perfected design method on the load reduction of the culvert.
