Abstract :
In this paper a fast fingerprint verification method is proposed. In which a smaller sub-region captured in fingerprint image is localized as the matching region. It is vital to detect reference points in the fingerprint image for accurate determining such region in this system. First, a priori knowledge of the complete fingerprint acquired during the fingerprint enrollment process. In the same time estimate the reference points and determine the core region. In verification process do the same thing for get sub-region. Then compare them and acquire the matching result. The sub-region size and verification reliability are studied in experiments. Our results show that using very small sub-region image can achieve accurate enough fingerprint matching result, it can be used widely in very fast fingerprint authentication system.
